Mountains, 3 lakes, char and trout – a true pleasure!

Pleasant Hiking

Family hike without major altitude differences. Partly asphalt and gravel roads that alternate with forestry trails. Sturdy boots required.

Starting point: Grundlsee - Seeklause
Walking time: total walking time: 3-4 hours
Quality of experience: lake shore, geologic peculiarities, nature; combination of hiking with boat cruises
Culinary delights: char and trout at Fischerhütte at Lake Toplitz; farmers’s cuisine at Veit in Gößl, wine edition of the Styrian hiking villages.

Starting from the village entrance of Grundlsee one hikes to the southern shore of Lake Grundlsee From the district of Gößl one follow the Geo Trail to the karst springs of Stimitzbach brook and continues past Ranftlmühle mill to the romantic Lake Toplitz.

Another option is to follow the Toplitz course along Toplitzbach brook featuring artistically designed stations. On a crossing of Lake Toplitz you can watch impressive waterfalls.

Lake Kammersee and the origin of Traun River are a charming experience. High rock faces, ancient maple trees and moss-covered rocks create a special atmosphere.

The way back to Gößl leads through the foothills of the vertical Gößlerwand face. For getting back to Grundlsee we recommend taking a boat from Gößl to Grundlsee. You can enjoy two more rest stops at places with lake terraces:
"Post am See" restaurant (toque-awarded cuisine) and “Max’s” restaurant at the new Seehotel.
