With your bike through the Salzkammergut
It is not recommended taking your racing bike for conquering the Salzkammergut loop trail. Good touring bikes are suitable. It leads from Altaussee past Blaa-Alm pasture and Rettenbachtal valley to Bad Ischl. From there the trail leads along the left shore of Traun river to Lauffen and then next to the federal road to Bad Goisern. One follows the trail through the village centre to get to Steeg/Lake Hallstättersee.
There are two options to get back to Ausseerland-Salzkammergut: one option leads via Hallstatt, Obertraun and Koppenpass to Bad Aussee. If you don’t fancy climbing the pass you can take the train from Obertraun to Bad Aussee.
Short excursions on cycling trails are often sections of the outlined trails.:
