“Bubi“ Bradl, “Hubsi“ Neuper, “Goldi“ Goldberger, Sven Hannawald, Andreas Widhölzl and Roar Ljökelsöy: all of them have succeeded in winning the ski-flying world-championship at Kulm.
While 50 years ago the “daredevils on flying skis” jumped only just more than a 100m, since the 1990ies they regularly have surpassed the 200m mark. Now it is possible to visit the biggest and most modern natural ski jump in summer time – of course without flying skis.
The double chairlift brings one comfortably to the starting house, where one can enjoy drinks and snacks to get strong for the intellectual flight. “Where eagles fly” is the motto on the ski flying tower. From the vantage platform of the starting house one enjoys a fantastic view of the Salzkammergut area.
On your way back with the chairlift you can stop at the mid terminal and check out the judges’ tower and the museum: experience 100 years of skiing history at Tauplitzalm pasture and the Kulm ski jumping site. Take off and enjoy the many other holiday destinations in the world-famous Salzkammergut area – 76 lakes and majestic mountains are a real treat for body and soul.
